Ridgewood Savings Bank Gives Back to the Community in Glendale, Queens

Joined by community members, civic leaders, local business owners and area first-responders, Ridgewood Savings Bank (“Ridgewood”) today unveiled at a ribbon-cutting a new look at its Glendale branch, featuring modern amenities, and a community meeting space to be used by not-for-profits, civic organizations, and community groups.

Ridgewood Savings Bank President, CEO, and Chairman Leonard Stekol also presented separate appreciation plaques and $1,000 donations to the FDNY Foundation, the 104th Precinct Community Council, Edward R Miller VFW Post 7336, and the Glendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps., recognizing each of these vital community organizations and first-responders for the role they play in making Glendale a wonderful place to live and work.

“We continue to invest in our Glendale branch, demonstrating our unwavering belief in the Glendale community, and happily recognize these dedicated organizations that play such an integral role throughout the Glendale neighborhood,” Mr. Stekol stated. “Ridgewood is a community bank that remains committed to its traditional values of multiplying the good and building strong relationships with the community. Today’s event is the perfect example of our mission in action.”

The investment in its Glendale branch demonstrates that Ridgewood remains committed to delivering ease, convenience, and choice to its customers.

Mr. Stekol noted that the storefront space and lobby renovations were designed to be more open and consumer friendly, and dedicated considerable space for a new community meeting room – complete with wheelchair access.

The four non-profit organizations recognized at today’s events offered the following comments:

“The FDNY Foundation is grateful for the generous donation and commitment from Ridgewood Savings Bank. This donation will support the life-saving mission and never-ending work of the FDNY,” said Jean O’Shea, executive director of the FDNY Foundation. “These funds will support Engine 286 Ladder 135 for training. These firefighters are on the front lines daily, protecting the people of Glendale. We couldn’t be happier than to celebrate Ridgewood’s important presence in Glendale and beyond, and we congratulate them on all of their great work in the community.”

"A heart-felt thank you to Ridgewood Savings Bank for your continued support of the 104th Precinct Community Council, the 104th Precinct, and our community,” said Len Santoro, president, 104th Precinct Community Council. “This donation to the 104th Precinct Community Council will help our organization and 104th Precinct in many ways. Their leadership in supporting our community and the NYPD is very much appreciated.”

“We appreciate Ridgewood Savings Bank’s continued community advocacy and support, which goes a long way with our hard-working volunteers,” said Samantha Gunning, chief of the Glendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. “It’s great to have a community-minded bank in the neighborhood that gets it, one that truly understands all that goes into making Glendale a great place to live and work.”
